The whale that is blue

[Disclaimer: this article was written last year when Blue whale game had emerged as a danger. But it is relevant even today. ]

If a simple mobile game can motivate soemone to commit suicide, then why can't it motivate someone to kill someone else, or become a suicide bomber? Sochne wali baat hai. They are no more human beings, they are sleeper cells, can do any damage to a society. 

The success of blue whale game comes from the ground work done by another blue whale. It is huge like a whale and also blue in color. Yes, I am talking about Facebook. Well, Facebook is just the face, the real animal is the whole of social media.

You might have observed in your surrounding that most people get absent-minded amid a conversation. Most of the time it's because of WhatsApp, fb or some mobile game. It hurts the person at the receiving end. But most of the time, people in our life are sweet enough to not let us know that they are hurt. But it certainly takes a toll on relationship. It kills the little time we could have spent with our family and friends. Mobile becomes our only companion which connects us to virtual people. So life has come down to be measured merely in terms of "likes" and "comments". Introspection has evaporated from life. The only time people look towards themselves is while taking a selfie. Result is that most people in the world are lonely today. Loneliness is the reason why people get into depression, anxiety and mood-swings and resort to alcohol, drugs,  porn & ultimately the biggest escape route - suicide. 

This is high time that we admit the silver-lining of Internet addiction. We need to control the way we use Internet and social media. We must admit that internet addiction is as dangerous as drugs and alcohol. 

We must work towards making our civilisation live in the real world, meet real people, attend real events and have real fun. Let the digital fun be an add-on not life itself. We must teach everyone that using phone repeatedly while talking to someone is a bad manner. 

We all have the burning desire to make our life great. Greatness comes from great ideas. Great ideas come from introspection (not Google). Introspection needs peace of mind. Peace of mind comes when you have peaceful time. Peaceful time comes when you have time. 

You ll die being a common man because your productive time of your productive age, you were busy building walls in clash of clans. So my dear friends please awake to the reality and help others as well. 

Final words,

When Lord Krishna & Gautam Buddha talked of detachment from material world, they also meant digital world. LOL
